New Year's Resolutions - So Cliche, I know,

So now that I am married, I guess that means I'm officially a "grown-up".  UGH!  So I decided to embrace my new found adulthood and make some new year's resolutions.

1 - Lose 30 pounds.  I wear scrubs for a living so it's easy to hide, but trust me, it needs to come off so I can be skinny again.

2 - Get me and Luis completely out of debt (minus the house and the new cars -- we will both be buying new cars this year.  Our cars are pathetic.)

3 - Go back to school.  (I start tomorrow).  This is how awesome I am . . . resolution completed before 3 weeks is finished.  Be jealous.

4 - Maybe, possibly think about a baby.  I said MAYBE!

So those are my grown-up goals for the year.  I think they are quite accomplish-able.  I will keep you posted.

That is all.

. . . going from MIA to back in action . . .

So I haven't updated my blog in what feels like a million years.

So here's whats new . . .

1 - I'm Married!  . . . Pretty big deal . . .

<3

2 - I got ANOTHER job . . . I started about a month before the wedding.  This just about shows how crazy I am.  I work in an outpatient surgery center with one of my best friends on days that I'm not working at the hospital.  I basically .l.o.v.e. it.

3 - Thanksgiving happened.

4 - Christmas happened.

5 - New Year's happened.

6 - I have decided that school and I have been separated for too long.  I am going back to school in 2 weeks.  Does this make me a nerd?  Yes, I am an uber nerd and completely okay with it.  Take a moment to let that sink in . . . . okay.  Moving on.

7 - Last but not least, my brother got engaged.  No, hell didn't freeze over, but thanks for asking.  They are getting married on April 6th and I'm pretty excited to get a new sister-in-law.

That is the end of my update.

By the way, I absolutely love being married.  I never thought that being married would really change everything but it's nice to finally get to live with a boy!  And playing house is awfully fun . . . I highly recommend it.  Speaking of playing house, our newest addition is adjusting quite nicely.  He is almost potty trained . . . almost.  :)  And Luis made him a make-shift ramp so he can finally get on the bed all by himself.  His 2am whine sessions were getting a little out of control;  he's lucky he's so cute.  Meet Baxter.

You should be jealous.

Finally . . . The Wedding Plans!

So I am FINALLY getting these wedding plans off and running!  The wedding party has been selected, menu has been finalized, tuxes are almost picked out, wedding dress has been BOUGHT, photographer is done and engagement photo's location is selected, DJ has been booked and I'm SO relieved.  So here are the bridesmaid's . . .

-Shannon Meader (Maid of Honor)
-Brittanni Molinaro
-Alicia Shirley
-Cynthia (Luis's Sister)
-Claudia (Luis's Sister)

Luis's Groomsmen are . . .

-Oscar (Best Man)
-Shawn (My Brother)
-Brian Arce (His Best Friend)
-Ernesto
-Peter Vega (One of My Best Friend's)

Dylan, my nephew, will of course be our little ring bearer and Luis's cousins daughters will be our 2 flower girls!

Our wedding colors are burgundy, burnt orange and chocolate brown.  We are doing our engagement pictures at Nelson's Landing and at Lake Las Vegas.  We finally found my wedding dress after searching in 3 states, yes, THREE STATES!  I found my dress in Anaheim, CA.  Pictures won't be posted just so I can keep up the anticipation, only a few people have seen the pictures and my mom is the only one who has seen me in it.

Oh and the countdown has begun . . . It is in 5 months and 8 days . . . WOO HOO!

Now it's just time to plan the honeymoon and buy a house . . . oh and win the lottery so I can afford all of this!  <3

i know very little but . . .

So I have discovered that I know very little (according to me) about the world of nursing but I figured I would share what I do know . . .

1 - Grey's Anatomy brand scrubs are the ONLY scrubs I will buy.  They feel like jammies.
2 - Nurses talk more about BM's (poop) then anyone you will ever meet.
3 - It takes about 500,000,003 years to learn how to read a doctor's handwriting.  This should be a class all on its own.

Awww the things you never learn in school.  :)

That is all.

. . . first things first . . .

So since this whole "blogging" thing is fairly new to me, it might be a bumpy ride until I get the hang of it . . . i apologize in advance.

My life has done a total 180 in the past 6 months.  I got engaged to the most wonderful man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, I graduated from college, I passed my state board's for nursing, and I actually got a job!  I am now a full-fledged oncology nurse, which means I work strictly with cancer patients, and turns out I am actually quite good at it.  I work at NVCI (Nevada Cancer Institute) and it is by far the best place I have ever worked at.  I am learning more now then I ever learned in school and I really feel that I have found my "true calling".

Wedding plans . . . everyone asks about my wedding plans and truth be told, I haven't really done much planning.  My colors are dark burgundy and burnt orange.  I have my photographer picked out.  That is it.  Oh, and the date - October 15th.  It's a Saturday and I fully expect everyone to be there.  You have ample warning.  :)  I am finally getting started on planning so I will keep everyone posted.

Now about school.  Oh how I miss school.  I am a nerd and I am completely okay with admitting that.  I know that a new job, planning a wedding, and graduate school seems like a very full plate so I have decided to postpone getting my Master's Degree until January of 2012.  I still need to do more research on worthy universities for my tuition and time, so if you know of any great Nursing Master's programs, I am open to suggestions.  I have a feeling I will be a lifelong student since I don't want to stop at 1 Master's Degree.  I will space them out though.  I'm hoping to finish graduate school before Luis and I start a family . . . and I'm sure he will be completely okay with that (babies F.R.E.A.K. him out.)

Well I can finally stop beating myself up about starting a blog that I have neglected ever since I created it.  Again, my apologies for the blandness.  It will get better, I promise.  And if not, you have my full approval to stop reading.  <3
